Heartless!! Okadaman Beats Pregnant Woman To Coma In Lagos

Some people are heartless! A commercial motorcycle operator has beaten a seven- month pregnant woman to coma along the Lagos-Badagry expressway, near Oluti bus stop in Lagos.

Trouble started after the woman was said to have paid the unknown rider a stipulated amount of money to convey her from Iyana Iba to First Gate bus stop, Maza Maza.

According to an eyewitness, who identified herself simply as Mama Bola, the pregnant woman, Feyisara, when she regained consciousness in a private hospital, said the agreement was for the rider to move her to First Gate only for him to stop near Oluti, screaming at her to get off from the motorcycle.

The source said Feyisara disclosed that an argument ensued and the rider wanted to move the bike but she held his clothes tight, preventing him from escaping.

According to Mama Bola, “The pregnant woman, Feyisara said she had paid the okada rider the agreed amount only for him to lie that Alakija was the destination she told him. So, when they reached Alakija, he ordered the woman to get off but she refused insisting that she would get off at her destination. So, when the desperate rider wanted to escape and the woman stopped him, he attempted to remove her hands from his clothes but to no avail.

The man parked the machine and forcefully removed her hands.
“The woman said she had no choice than to go after his private part. An action which probably angered the man as he punched her in the neck and the woman fell on a stone and was rolling on the ground when sympathisers saw her and took her to a private hospital. She was bleeding”.

Meanwhile, the Okadaman had zoomed off to an unknown destination. Police is on his trail.

Horror!! Lagos Student Stabs Father In The Eye Over Christmas Clothes

A secondary school student in Oshodi area of Lagos threw decorum to the wind yesterday, when he stabbed his father in the right eye for failing to buy him Christmas clothes.

The boy, a Senior Secondary School (SSS3) student, who was identified simply as Ikechi, was said to have held his father, Anthony, hostage for some minutes in their apartment on Arowojobe Street, Osodi, before committing the dastardly act, because the man failed to buy him Christmas clothes.

According to family members, Anthony was said to have explained to Ikechi that he had only “small money” which barely paid for the Christmas clothes of his three siblings, but all appeals made by his father fell on deaf ears.

Ikechi’s cousin, Ukachukwu, revealed that Ikechi was so livid that he quarrelled with his father through the night, insisting that he must get his Christmas clothes, because he wanted to wear it to the birthday of a friend at one of the beaches along the Victoria Island-Epe Expressway, on Sunday.

According to Ukachukwu, when Anthony, who works as a guard in a hotel, wanted to leave for work, his son would not let him leave.

“He accused his father of hating him and, fed up with his complaints, the man got his belt and began to flog the boy.

“As his father continued flogging him, Ikechi reached for a knife and stabbed him straight in the eye. Upon seeing the horror of his deed, Ikechi took his heels.

“When I wanted to run off to the police station to report the issue to the police, his mother begged me not to, as it will ‘involve more expenses.”

Anthony, who was rushed to the hospital right away is under intensive care, while family members are praying for him to see properly with the eye again.

“But I doubt if he will still see with that eye again,” Ukachukwu said.

I Feel Sorry For Goodluck Jonathan – Etcetera Writes

I think I am the most criticised President in the whole world, but I want to tell this audience that before I leave, I will be the most praised President,” said President Goodluck Jonathan at the opening of the 52nd Annual General Meeting of the Nigerian Bar Association at the International Conference Centre in Abuja.

Hey guys, I guess you know that pointing fingers is not my style, hahaha, just as I know that it will be difficult to find a single Nigerian who hasn’t pointed fingers at President Goodluck Jonathan since he became President. But really, can so many fingers be pointed at a single individual all at the same time? Some people have gone to the extent of saying that since Jonathan took office, everything has gone to hell in a handbasket.

Others have held him responsible for everything that has gone wrong in the country, from the tear in their pants to the economy. Trust me: Nigerians are beginning to agree that when it comes to assigning blame, look to Jonathan first. There are some hardliners who don’t care if Jonathan wasn’t President during the civil war. He must have been thinking about it, and that’s good enough reason for them. They even say that if he hadn’t been sticking his nose into government, the civil war wouldn’t have happened. Funny, Nigerians have found the perfect target for dealing with their bad days. Late to work? Blame Jonathan! Did the soup in the fridge melt when you weren’t looking? It’s Goodluck Jonathan. Can’t find your smelling socks? Jonathan! Your baby pees on the chair, again? Jonathan. The possibilities are endless! Hey, are we not just being unfair to Goodluck Jonathan? We blame him for all and everything. Even for things that are not his fault. Let me ask you something sir or madam, if Jonathan is to blame for everything wrong in Nigeria today, what becomes of the previous presidents under whose regimes most of these problems started?

On Tuesday evening on my way back from NTA, I stopped at the Bar Beach to buy suya. I was a little bit early because I met the aboki lighting his charcoal. As I waited, I saw two weird looking rastas looking like archangels Michael and Gabriel in their white Cele garments walk down to just about five yards from the water, raised their holy robes in unison like atilogwu dancers trying to master a new dance routine and bent down and began to defecate. Couples of minutes later, I heard them walking back complaining of how dirty and smelly the beach had become from what it used to be. As they passed by me, the taller one said “omo naija, presido no dey try at all. See as this place don yamayama finish, dem no dey see as those oyinbo beach be for inside film wey we dey watch?” At that point, I couldn’t hold back my anger. I just had to say something: “Shebi na una just shit finish for that place so? And una get mouth dey blame the president. Una see him shit for there?”

We are having a distant relationship with the truth in this country. We have developed that rare ability to be hypocritical and not so much as give a damn whether we are equally guilty of the things we are blaming on others. In truth, Goodluck Jonathan should roll up his sleeves, spit on his palms and get to work on a lot of things. We keep saying that corruption escalated under his regime but why do we keep failing to associate it with the fact that these corrupt individuals are Nigerians? I listened to some custom officers saying that If it wasn’t for Goodluck Jonathan’s backward policies, everything at the Nigerian borders would be perfect. Yes, let us keep dumping everything on Goodluck Jonathan. Even our own responsibilities as citizens. He’s the reason our custom and police officers are more interested in collecting bribes than fighting crime and checking for contraband goods coming into the country. It is also Jonathan’s fault that the security operatives at the Lagos airport have all turned beggars. Should the president also take the rap for the Director-General of the Standards Organisation of Nigeria not being able to see that the nation is littered with fake products? Maybe Goodluck Jonathan should be with him daily and point him towards fake products and manufacturers. The fight to save this country does not begin or stop at Janathan’s table. It must be an all Nigerian battle. Let the pastors stop praying for corrupt politicians and tell them to their faces to stop stealing public funds. If all drivers have their complete vehicle papers and obey traffic laws, there will be no need to give out money to the police and we will be on our way to a better society.

Ask yourself where your governor got the billions he spends on frivolities? People in the rural areas of Akwa Ibom state are living in thatched houses and we are building another stadium? Have you tried asking what the Abia State Government did with the state’s allocation for eight years? Do you think President Jonathan will be allowed a minute of sleep if he failed to remit monies due to the states? So why then do we pour all the blames on him? Your governor owns empty estates in Dubai and factories in South Africa when people of their states are homeless and jobless, is that Jonathan’s fault too? Where did we get the preposterous notion that President Jonathan took office and people started having trouble finding jobs? Did we have a zero unemployment rate in the country before President Jonathan? Millions of Nigerians are working their asses out and dying as contract staffs and casual workers, where is the NLC? Is it not aware of the appalling working conditions Nigerian workers are subjected to by multinationals? Of course, it is all Jonathan’s fault. Last time I checked, Jonathan was a president or a magician. Should he be doing the job of the NLC too, supervising every sector of the country at the same time? Let us be truthful to ourselves, since when have we had good roads in this country?

Were there roads in the country that Jonathan destroyed? Have we had electricity in the country before President Jonathan? We say Boko Haram started as a result of poverty and lack of education in the North, were there schools in the North that Jonathan destroyed? Trust me, the architects of Boko Haram know what they’re talking about when they say it is all Jonathan’s fault.

For everyone out there, below are a list of things Goodluck Jonathan is yet to be blamed for, so go ahead and make your pick and let the blame game continue: Cancer, AIDS, racism, air pollution, sin, child p**n, human meat at Jankara market, home video, obesity, Drake sleeping with everyone’s chic, Kim Kardashian’s n**e picture, tribalism and every other kind of ism, Arsenal’s trophyless seasons, Facebook, Twitter and Wizkid’s last album.

Chibok Girls Will Never Return Intact – Obasanjo

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has again criticized President Goodluck Jonathan saying that because of his inaction, the Chibok Girls will never be rescued.

Obasanjo also spoke about his book saying that everything he has written about Jonathan, he has also said to him face-to-face.

The former President stated this and more during an interview with Rosie Collyer of Radio France Internationale (RFI)

Excerpts below:

RC: Why have you chosen to publish your autobiography now, when Nigeria is politically charged ahead of February’s general election?

OO: You used the word politically charged. There is no time Nigeria is not politically charged. One thing one can say about Nigeria is, since independence we have had some high ebbs or low ebbs but Nigeria has been very, very politically active. So the question of which is the opportune time or auspicious time for a book to be published, it is entirely up to the publisher and of course the reading public.

I completed writing the book, which took me about 18 months, about four months ago and I gave it to the publisher. And the publisher decided that after reading the book that he would like to publish it before the elections.

RC: Who is Buruji Kashamu and why do you mention him in your autobiography?

OO: He is someone who has been indicted in America […] And for a political party and for the president to be hobnobbing with him I believe leaves much to be desired, and I said that [in my autobiography].

RC: You are apparently critical of President Goodluck Jonathan in your autobiography. Why?

OO: Whatever I have said in my book, I have said it to President Jonathan one-on-one. I have said it in public statements that I have made over the past two or three years. So there is nothing in my book that is new that I have said about President Jonathan.

RC: One area where you have criticised President Jonathan is his handling of the kidnapped Chibok schoolgirls. What advice did you give the president?

OO: It is unfortunate. What I have said to Jonathan before and what I have said also in my letter – and I have said it several times – is that, once active and concrete action was not taken within 48 hours, a period of 72 hours was already too late. We will never be able to get those girls again. And the story of those girls will go on for the next 30 years. Some of them will come out when they are adults or they will be sent back when they are pregnant by those who have captured them. If anyone is thinking of being able to get those girls released intact, he must be day dreaming.

RC: Your autobiography is called My Watch in reference to your presidencies. What were you most proud of during your time as president?

OO: Well what was I proud of, is when I came in [as president] many people thought that I would be the last president of Nigeria, because after me Nigeria will be no more. I was proud that I was not the last president of Nigeria because after me there have been two presidents and there will always be presidents of Nigeria and Nigeria will continue to exist.
And then, of course, we fought corruption.

RC: Can you give some examples of corrupt people who faced justice?

OO: Oh yes, we took an inspector general of police to court. We took the president of the Senate to court. We took my minister for secondary schools and my minister of internal affairs to court. We took a few permanent secretaries to court. And we took a few governors to court.
And then of course we recovered well over 1.25 billion dollars from the Abacha family.

RC: Could you have done more to fight corruption?

OO: No, I did all that could be done. Fighting corruption is not a one-day affair or a one-night affair, it must be continuous

A Vote For Buhari Is A Vote For Tinubu – PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has said that its flag-bearer, President Goodluck Jonathan, is up for the presidential contest in the February 14, 2015 election with the former Governor of Lagos state, Alhaji Bola Tinubu and not General Muhammadu Buhari.

The PDP National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh, in a statement on Sunday said the APC Presidential candidate, General Buhari is merely a front for Alhaji Tinubu to whom he has already surrendered his powers and first official assignment of choosing a running mate.

“This development clearly confirms that General Buhari is not in charge, may have been compromised and willing to be appropriated. In fact, patriotic Nigerians from across the six geo-political zones are now embarrassed that General Buhari is playing a godson to Alhaji Tinubu.

“In surrendering his prerogative of choosing his running mate, General Buhari has confirmed that he is being appropriated and compromised to serve a personal and narrow group interest of a cabal on whose ticket he emerged as the presidential candidate.

“This APC cabal under the command of Tinubu tampered with all the rules of their party to achieve their selfish agenda of planting surrogates in all strategic positions to enable Tinubu expand his economic and political frontiers the way and manner he did in Lagos state.

“Therefore a vote for General Buhari in the forthcoming presidential election is clearly a vote for Tinubu, his political and economic interests.

“Indeed, the possible calculation of this cabal, if they ever get to power, is to choke-up General Buhari and ultimately frustrate him out of office thereby allowing Tinubu to have total control of the economic and political interests of the nation.

“Therefore the question the citizens want answered remains, ‘is Tinubu the face of the so-called change the APC wants to bequeath to Nigerians?

“The APC and its leadership have clearly shown that to them, national interest is secondary to Asiwaju Bola Tinubu’s business interests, little wonder many are now calling APC ASIWAJU’S PERSONAL CONSORTIUM.”

Olisa Metuh

I Killed My Boss Because I Needed 150,000 Naira For Dubai Trip – Motor Boy

A look at 32 year-old Sani Saidu , will never pass him for a betrayer, let alone a killer , owing to his quiet disposition and soft wayof speaking.

But his disposition has only proved to be deceptive after all , as he is currently cooling his heels at the Lagos State Criminal Investigations Department,SCID, Yaba , Lagos, over a case of alleged m****r.

The Gombe state born suspect allegedly stabbed one Mr Shittu Aremu, driver of a truck to death while accompanying him to Port Harcourt, Rivers state, destination of the 40,000 litre of petroleum product .

The late Aremu whose age was put around56 years, was a driver to S.K Transport Service Nigeria Limited .

He reportedly loaded the truck with plate number AGL 368 XA with aviation fuel worth N5.5 million and consequently left Lagos for Port Harcourt on November 13, 2014, to discharge the product.

But before leaving Lagos State, he was said to have invited Saidu to work with himas his motor boy, with a promise to pay him an undisclosed amount at the end of the trip. But little did he realize that the invitation would end his life.

The first sign that signalled an unpalatable situation for the truck driver, followed difficulty by his employee to reach him on his mobile phone, two days after he embarked on the journey.

Further checks from the tracking device on the truck reportedly showed that the truck had been diverted from its original route to somewhere around Mutum Biu, in Taraba state.

Suspecting that the driver had a sinister motive up his sleeve ,the company reportedly lodged a complaint at the State Criminal Investigation Department SCID, Yaba,

where detectives swung into action by travelling to Taraba state.

Fortunately for them, the truck was recovered at the Taraba state Police Command, with only Saidu, the motorboy.

l stabbed him, threw him out of the truck Preliminary investigation as gathered , revealed that Saidu allegedly murdered the truck driver before diverting the truck to the northern part of the country.

In this interview, Saidu gave a graphic description of how he stabbed his master with a knife and threw him out of the truck, before taking over the steering..

Asked what made him carry out such dastardly act, Saidu replied :

“ I killed Mr Aremu because I wanted to sell the aviation fuel and use the money to travel to Dubai on a business trip”Narrating how he snuffed life out of Aremuwhom he fondly called baba Oyo, , Saidu said:

“ A day after we left Lagos, at about 6pm, the company called baba Oyo and instructed him to park at Umunede, Delta state for security reason and that he should proceed on the journey the following day.

While there , I bought a knife without him knowing and tied it with a rope on my leg.

Very early the third day, baba Oyo started the ignition to continue the journey.

As he was about to move, I told him that one of the tyres had developed a fault.

I came out of the vehicle and pretended to be checking the tyres.

I went to his side of the truck, bent down as if checking the tyres and in the process, I brought out my knife.

But as I raised my hand to stab him, he held my hand and we started struggling, in the process of which the knife cut me on the index finger.

I succeeded in stabbing him first on the lap and blood started gushing out.

Again, I stabbed him again in the stomach, leaving the knife in there.

By then he was too weak to shout.

Thereafter, I pushed him out of the vehicle and mounted the driver’s seat and zoomed off.

Diverts truck to the north

My intention was to take the aviation fuel to Taraba state and sell it at the black market.

When I got to Adamawa state, I sold four drums , at the rate of N28,000 perdrum.

On reaching Katsina Ala, the truck developed a fault and I ended up spendingN57,000 to fix it.

I continued the journey but on reaching Mutum Biu, I was stopped by some soldiers who were on a joint operation with the Police, at a check point.

They demanded for the way bill and I showed them.

But one of the policemen asked where the plate number was and I brought it out from where I kept it.

I had earlier removed it because the company’s number was inscribed on it.

When the policemen dialled the telephone number, they discovered that the vehicle was supposed to be heading for Port Harcourt.

When they asked what it was doing at Taraba, I could not provide a ready answer and I was subsequently apprehended.

”I wanted to raise 150,000The father of five whose family resides in Adamawa state further disclosed that “ I did what I did in order to raise N150,000 fora ticket to Dubai.

A friend of mine who lives in Kano usually travels to Dubai to buy handsets and sell in Kano.

He told me he would take me down if I could raise N150,000.

That was why I did what I did. But with the look of things, it is obvious that I am in a big trouble and may never come out of from it for the rest of my life”, he stated remorsefully.

Information at Crime Guard’s disposal revealed that operatives at the SCID would be leaving Lagos for Umunede in Delta state, to inspect the spot where the suspect claimed to have thrown Aremu’s body, with a view to ascertaining whether he is alive or not.

Police sources however hinted that the driver’s seat of the recovered truck was stained with blood, adding that at the end of investigation, the suspect would be charged to court for m****r and stealing.

World Record:- Star Beer Builds Largest Bottle Tree In The World (Photos)

Nigeria’s first indigenous beer brand, Star Lager has completed the building of the world’s largest bottle tree in Lagos State, Nigeria.

The record-breaking tree is made with a total of 8,000 star bottles as against 3,000 bottles announced during the commencement of the project. This development was as a result of the excitement the project elicited in the minds of consumers and Lagosians who trooped in to submit empty bottles as contribution towards the project.

Attention grabbing and beautifully made, the Star Bottle Tree sits proudly at the Star Beer Village, Eko Atlantic City (venue of the much anticipated Lagos Countdown 2014) Victoria Island, Lagos.

With over 17.5 million people, Lagos is the most populous city in Nigeria and the seventh fastest-growing city in the world. It is also the commercial capital of Nigeria, making it an increasingly attractive hub on the continent.

The bottle tree is a first of its kind in the country, symbolizing greatness and the enterprising Nigerian spirit personified by Star Lager, the country’s leading beer brand.

The Star Tree aims to break the current World Record of 1,000 beer bottles being held by the Chinese city of Shanghai.

I Have Been Tempted To Cheat On My Husband Many Times – Omotola

In a new interview with Vanguard, star actress Omotola Jalade Ekeinde said she’s been tempted to cheat on her husband of over 17 years many times but never went through with it because of all she stood to lose.

“Absolutely. I have been tempted many times to cheat on my husband by men I really liked. But when you think of what you stand to lose, the destruction of all you have labored to build, when you weigh all the options, you are left to conclude that it is not worth the trouble. I know some women will find this somewhat objectionable, but if they want to be truthful to themselves, they will agree with me that, as married women, we have all faced moments that I have just described.”
Omotola said

Asked if she receives gifts from her male admirers, a very candid Omotola said

“Sure, I have received lots of goodies from my male admirers. I do not give anything in return. I always tell them that I am married and would not compromise my martial vows. If after making that point clear, they still continue to shower me with gifts, maybe believing that something will break in the future, then I cannot help them.”

Asked if her passion for her husband has cooled with time, Omotola said yes, but she also said it’s a normal thing for couples who have been together for a long time. She encouraged women to try something she calls ‘temporary separation’ to bring back the fire in their marriage

“Of course, it has. Which married woman who has been with her husband for years will, in her true state, tell you that the feeling has remained the same as it was the first time or the first year she met her husband? It is bound to cool off. What I recommend to women is what I call “temporary separation.” You will make yourself unavailable to your husband. Go somewhere, go on vacation with your friends, do something bold, lose weight, look different and, after weeks, come home, looking drop dead gorgeous, and I bet you, the fire of passion will be mightily rekindled and you will feel brand new again. I have applied this principle in my marriage and it has worked wonders.” she said

Jungle Justice: Armed Robber In Warri, Delta State Burnt To Death

An armed robber using a motorcycle met his waterloo at the early hours of Sunday in the oil-rich city of Warri, Delta State, while trying to snatch a handbag from a lady.

The incident occurred at Enemejuwa Junction, off Ometan Road, Warri.

The young man was set ablaze by an irate mob.

According to a witness who gave her name as Celina Agbo, the robbers were about six in number, but luck ran out of one of them after snatching a bag from her victim.

The witnessed said the robber’s legs and hands were bound and tyres wound round his neck before he was bathed with premium motor spirit (petrol) and eventually set ablaze, adding that the remaining five robbers, however, escaped.

Sympathisers were seen at the scene, with some relishing the jungle justice meted out to the knife-carrying marauder.

Delta State government had, on November 1, banned commercial motorcycles from plying major roads in Warri, Asaba and other major towns in the state, owing to high rate of crime by some motorcycle riders.

Residents of the popular town have been groaning under the attendant effects of the policy, forcing several people to trek kilometres to their places of work as a result of over 100 per cent hike in intra-city transportation fares.

Meanwhile, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Delta State police command, DSP Charles Muka, who confirmed the incident to the Nigerian Tribune, enjoined the public to go about their normal businesses, saying that the police were on top of the situation.

Why Nigeria Has Not Won War Against Boko Haram – Oritsejafor

The President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor says Nigeria has not been able to win the war against Boko Haram insurgency due to pretense by some Nigerians and refusal to speak the truth.

“Nigeria is fighting against truth. We hate truth, we hide truth and we fear truth. It is so unfortunate. In John 8:32, Jesus said you shall know the truth and the truth will make you free,” Oritsejafor said at the Northern States Christian Elders Forum (NOSCEF) Traditional Rulers Conference 2014, in Abuja.
“Nigeria is not free because we are running away from truth. Truth can be bitter, but when you swallow it, when it gets inside, it could become sweet.

“No nation can grow or develop without embracing the truth. No matter how difficult it is. In the same John 8:46, Jesus said, ‘if what I have told you is the truth, then why do you refuse to believe me?’ This is the situation of Nigerians today, we are like Ostriches, we are a nation of pretenders.

“We wrote from the truth and we want to believe that somehow, our troubles will just vanish, but it never happened that way, because truth has a way of creating a level plain ground for everybody. Nigerians must face the truth, accept it, work with it, live by it, and must build a nation of truth,” the CAN president said.
On his part, the National Chairman of NOSCEF, Mr Olaiya Phillips, described the activities of Boko Haram in the North-East as an inferno engulfing the nation. He accused politicians of not having the interest of the people at heart.

“In recent months, many politicians have tried to claim that one political party or another is secretly using Boko Haram for their own ends. Providing them with weapons and finance; Yet not one piece of evidence has been forthcoming,” Phillips said.

“Accusations and denials have filled the newspapers, but these politicians not want to help our community. They just want our votes so that they can look after themselves. They feed on fear and gorge themselves on terror,” he said.

Police Killed And Buried My Brother In Shallow Grave In Lekki – Sister

Some policemen attached to Maroko police station in Lagos are being accused of killing 24-year old Aondona Tavershima and burying him in a shallow grave at Lekki beach.

Sunday Sun reports

Five of the suspected policemen are now currently in police detention. The victim, a motorcycle operator, was alleged to have refused to stop when he was accosted by the policemen who were said to be on patrol at about 11am on the fateful day.

“On realizing that he was dead, the policemen picked his corpse and put it behind their patrol vehicle, a Toyota Hilux Van, and covered it with tyres.

They drove to the beach and buried him.

We were the ones who alerted the family that their brother had been killed and buried,” the eyewitness disclosed.

Narrating the incident to Sunday Sun on phone, Aondona’s elder sister, Linda, said she got to know about the incident on Thursday, November 11, 2014.

“I knew that he left for Lekki with his friend and when he did not come back, I assumed that he had gone to spend time with his friends.

When I was told that my brother was killed, my people visited the scene and saw the grave.

We later discovered that the policemen were from Maroko police station and we went to lodge a complaint.

They promised to invite SCID Panti to exhume the body, as it was not their job.

At night, they came and exhumed the body and kept it in a mortuary.

The DPO later called me and requested that they would pay us N10 million to end the matter.

They said we should go home and think about it and get back to them,” Linda alleged.

Similarly, an in-law to the deceased, Dominic David, claimed that he was told that policemen were trying to arrest Aondona and he refused to stop.

“They opened fire on him and shot him.

And even when he fell down, they still continued to shoot.

Initially, they wanted to abandon the corpse, but the owner of the house near where he was killed insisted that they must carry the corpse away.”

“They took his body to Lekki beach and buried him in a grave and covered the burial site with leaves and old carton. Unfortunately, some of the people who witnessed the crime knew us very well and alerted us.

They promised that Panti was going to investigate the matter but up till date, they have not done anything about it.”

The lawyer representing the family, Barrister Mindia Chibok, said the family intends to legally seek redress on the injustice meted out to the victim.

We expect that by now the matter should have been transferred to an appropriate authority and not the same police station where the crime was committed.

We hope that the police authority will order a thorough investigation and ensure that the suspects, including those who are currently at large be arrested and made to face the wrath of the law.

I gathered that six of the suspects are currently at large while five others are in police custody.

Confirming the incident, Lagos Police command spokesman, DSP Kenneth Nwosu, said that as soon as the Commissioner of Police for Lagos State got wind of the incident, he ordered an immediate arrest of the suspected policemen who were alleged to have participated in the killing.

“Five policemen are currently being detained, while State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, has since commenced an investigation.

If found guilty, the officers will be made to face the wrath of the law,” Nwosu said.

Niger-Delta Group Condemns Tompolo’s Acquisition Of War Ships

group under the aegis of Warri Study Group (WSG) has called on President Goodluck Jonathan to repeal a Federal Government contract awarded to Global West Vessel Service to secure Nigerian coastline.

The group was reacting to media reports that the Global West Vessel Service, a private company believed to be controlled by one-time militant leader, Chief Ekpemupolo, a.k.a Tompolo, has added seven decommissioned Norwegian battleships to its weaponry.

In a statement signed by Edward Ekpoko, Chairman, and Tony Ede, Secretary described the development as a threat to national security, adding that Nigeria was sitting on a keg of gun powder.
The statement said, “Tompolo was a known militant granted amnesty by the Yar’ Adua administration and controls the private company engaged by NIMASA to oversee the security of the Nigerian coastline during Jonathan’s administration.

“President Jonathan, Tompolo and the DG of NIMASA are all of Ijaw extraction. We see a script being acted out. Nigeria is the only country where an individual is awarded contract to oversee the security of the coastline of a nation with powers to import warships and sophisticated arms.

“The question that begs for answer is this: What is the role of the Nigerian Navy in the security of the Nigerian coastline? Is the Ministry of Defence aware of all these arms deals?”

“Are these warships and arm deals to fight piracy and other criminal activities on our coastline or to intimidate other ethnic nationalities or cause destabilization as in the North East?”, the WSG further queried.

It called on Jonathan to intervene by withdrawing the contract awarded by NIMASA, warning, “In the unfortunate event of weapons being turned against other ethnic nationalities in the Niger Delta, those involved will be held responsible for crime against humanity by the international community even if Nigerian government fails to act”.

I Stopped FG From Transferring Our N12BN To Abia – Gov Amaechi

Rivers State governor Rotimi Amaechi has said that his decision to approach a Federal High Court in Abuja two weeks ago stopped the federal government from transferring N12 billion meant for the state to Abia State.

This is as the governor has promised to renovate damaged stalls of the Port Harcourt New Layout Market gutted by fire on Tuesday night as well as compensate traders who were affected by the inferno.

Amaechi spoke yesterday in Port Harcourt the state capital, during the governorship primaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC) where 4,574 delegates of the party in the state ratified the endorsement of a member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Dakuku Peterside as the party’s consensus governorship candidate for the 2015 general elections.

He said, “I went to court two weeks ago to stop the federal government from taking our N12 billion to Abia State. If I didn’t do that, they (federal government) would have taken our money to Abia State.”

The governor stated that the choice of Peterside, who represents Andoni/Opobo/Nkoro federal constituency in the National Assembly, was not his, but that of the APC caucus in the Rivers South-East senatorial district of the state.

Suspected Female Terrorist Arrested In Maiduguri With Bomb In Food Flask

IT was a defeat of the power of evil secrecy Thursday as security agents arrested a suspected female suicide bomber who would have blown up the General Shuwa Memorial Hospital, Maiduguri and killed the health workers and the patients they labour hard to treat.

The suspected bomber, a fairly old woman, who was said to have been confronted first by the hospital’s security guards, was arrested after it was discovered that she hid an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in a food flask she was carrying.

According to the hospital authorities, the suspected terrorist disguised as a relation of a female patient who had come to present food at the maternity ward. But when she was stopped at the gate to open the two food flasks she was carrying before she could be allowed to proceed to the ward, she refused to open one of the flasks.

One of the hospital’s security guards narrated the story to journalists: “When she was asked to open the other flask, she refused, swearing that she will not open it. Our security guards have to call the soldiers at a military post to ascertain whether or not the flask contains any explosive. Three minutes after, the bomb detector beeped for some seconds, indicating the presence of an explosive device, and the old woman was immediately whisked way by the military personnel to an unknown destination for further interrogation and investigation.”

On the identity of the suspect, he said that when the woman was asked about her place of residence, she responded that: “I am an old woman from Chibok town, and I wanted to deliver food to one of my relations admitted here in this hospital.”

Three hours after the arrest of the suspect, members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) patrolling the airport road also arrested two Boko Haram suspects near the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) base and the Airport Roundabout by 2.31pm.

“The two suspects boarded a tricycle and taxi from the Tashan Journey near the 333 Nigerian Army Artillery, before they were intercepted by our members here at this check point in Gomari ward. They attempted fleeing, but we had to stop them from fleeing from the vehicles, and God was on our side to recover a rifle and a pistol hidden under their jeans pants,” said Yusuf Bala, brandishing a cutlass that assisted him in the arrests.

He said the fleeing Boko Haram insurgents from last Monday’s attacks in Damaturu, are infiltrating Maiduguri to hide and possible launch attacks in the metropolis.

“Our job was to patrol all the nooks and crannies of Maiduguri with stop and search of all vehicles moving in and out of this city. These arrested suspects had been handed over to soldiers in our sector for further interrogations and investigation,” said Bala.

A source in the Borno State Police Command also yesterday told The Guardian that two terror suspects were arrested by the CJTF in Gomari ward, including an old woman allegedly carrying explosives in a food flask at one of the hospitals in Government Reservation Area (GRA), Maiduguri.

Meanwhile, the National Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief John Oyegun has attributed the nation’s security challenges to the failure of the PDP-led Federal Government to provide purposeful leadership.

He said insurgence were left unchecked for several years which eventually turn the northern part of the country to a warfare field expressed regret that the country could hardly boast of quality chain of intelligence gathering to counter unabated restiveness.

Oyegun who led the national leadership of the APC on condole visit to governor Rabiu Musa Owankwaso over last Friday multiple attacks on the Kano Central Mosque, announced donation of N5 million to Kano State to assist the victims of the attack.

He alleged that those who are entrusted with the protection of lives and properties are acting in a way and manner that can be described as connivance.

No ooooo! Boko Haram Again Threatens To Hit Lagos

Police on Wednesday said they have intelligence report pointing that the Islamist insurgents, Boko Haram militants, have perfected plans to attack Lagos any time from now.

The Islamist sect had in 2012 threatened to bomb undisclosed targets in Lagos.

US diplomats in Nigeria had in May this year claimed that “groups associated with terrorism” could be planning to attack a hotel in the financial capital, Lagos, in a travel note to their citizens warning of security risks.

Speaking on Wednesday in Lagos during the inauguration ceremony of the newly elected executive council of the Maritime Reporters’ Association of Nigeria (MARAN), Hilda Ibifuro-Harrison, the commissioner of police, Western Port, said the police got the report recently, noting that the Western Port police have quickly moved to beef-up security at the ports following the intelligence report.

According to Ibifuro-Harrison, who was represented by the assistant commissioner of police (ACP), Selem Amachree, the seaport, which is the nation’s economic gateway, is a veritable target for any attack. She said the police will not fail to secure the seaports and environs.

“It will be economically disastrous if the insurgent group succeeds in carrying out its threat in a commercial city like Lagos that houses the two major seaports (Apapa and Tin-Can Island Ports) including the numerous oil tank farms for the storage of imported refined petroleum products,” the commissioner said.

Continuing, she said, “The Nigerian police force is assuring Lagosians especially the stakeholders in the port industry and Apapa metropolis to go about their individual businesses without doubt because we have strengthened security in these areas to ensure that the port is well protected.”

Also speaking at the event, Ifeyinwa Obi, the newly inaugurated president of the association, however, challenged the Federal Government on the need to intensify efforts in the ongoing rehabilitation work on Apapa-Oshodi Expressway.

According to her, improving the condition of the port access road has become very imperative owing to the health and economic hazards which the bad state of the road constitutes to businesses located in Apapa especially the ports that yields billions of naira into the Federal Government’s coffers.

Boko Haram has terrorised northern Nigeria regularly since 2009, attacking police, schools, churches, mosques and civilians and bombing government buildings. It has killed thousands and kidnapped hundreds.

Only on Monday, six people, including two female suicide bombers, were confirmed dead at Maiduguri main market in Borno State after attack at the market, the police said.

This came three days after a gun and bomb assault on Kano Central Mosque killed more than 150 people in Kano.

In a similar development, on Monday suspected Boko Haram members launched a raid on Damaturu, Yobe State, opening fire on an air force jet circling their forces and dropping bombs, fleeing residents said. Residents fled or tried to hide as the attackers charged into Damaturu firing their guns and shouting “Allahu Akbar” (God is greatest), the witnesses said.

APC Presidential Aspirants Sign Undertaking Not To Decamp After Primaries

All the aspirants seeking to vie for the office of the president on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have signed a binding agreement with the leadership not to decamp to another political party on account of failing to secure the party’s ticket during its primary.

Also by the agreement, the aspirants have accepted to abide by the rules and regulations of the party as it affects the conduct of the presidential primary.

The extraction of the written agreement from the aspirants came just as the party said it would go ahead to hold the December 10 presidential convention/primary in Lagos despite the protests registered by two aspirants – Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso and his Imo counterpart Rochas Okorocha.

However, former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar endorsed the choice of venue, saying he whole-heartedly welcomes the choice of Lagos for the presidential primary of the APC scheduled for next week.

Speaking while presenting screening certificates to the aspirants at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja, Chairman of the Screening Panel, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu said all the aspirants had signed an undertaking to remain in the party whether they win the ticket or not and to also collapse their campaign structures in support of the person that emerges as the presidential candidate of the party.

“We told you before the screening that we want the aspirants to sign a letter of commitment to the party.

I am happy to inform you that all the five aspirants were very happy to sign the letters of commitment and that commitment is principally to assure the party that there is none of them that is running for himself,” he said.

Female Banker Kidnapped By Christ Embassy Music Director

It is true that when the devil pushes a man, he pushes the man to his downfall. This is clearly the story of a robbery suspect, Edward Nnaji who claimed to be a movie actor and played a role in a film titled Friday Night and also the music director at Christ Embassy Church, Zone 1, Idimangoro Parish, Agege, Lagos.

The 25-year-old man alongside two of his alleged accomplices were arrested two years after they allegedly conspired with others to kidnap a female banker, Popoola Morenikeji, and collected the sum of N5 million as ransom before they set her free.

According to the police, PMnews reports that the suspects kidnapped the victim at Amuwo Odofin area of Mile 2, Lagos close to her residence when she stepped out of her vehicle to buy something and took her to an uncompleted building in a bush at Mowe area of Ogun State.

They tied her legs and hands and kept her for four days until a ransom was paid before they set her free.

The suspects reportedly set the victim free after her family members paid the sum of N5 million as ransom.

The suspects, according to the police, also sold the victim’s Toyota Corolla car valued at N1.8 million for N250,000 to David Nwangboe (now at large).

They also sold all the jewellery and handsets of the victim valued at N2 million and shared the loot.

Other suspects arrested in connection with the crime include Osas Osagie, 23, from Ogbe village, Oredo LGA of Edo State and Patrick Donatus Jackson, 29, who resides at 13, Famuyiwa Street, Idimangoro, Agege, Lagos, and hails from Akwa Ibom State.

One of the suspects simply called Jek is also at large.

However, nemesis caught up with the arrested suspects two years after they allegedly perpetrated the act on August 1, 2014.

The alleged ring leader, Nnaji regrouped with others and sent a threat to life text message to the victim to send N150,000 into their account for recharge card, with a warning that if she failed to send the money, they will trail her this time around and eliminate her.

The banker immediately sent a petition to the Inspector general of Police after receiving the sms to save her from the kidnappers.

The Commissioner of Police Federal SARS, DCP Chris Ezike, took the matter up and deployed a team led by Inspector Oluwemimo Banjoko to fish out the suspects and they were arrested in Lagos and Edo states.

During interrogation, all the suspects allegedly confessed to the crime and led the police to the place they kidnapped the woman and kept her for four days before she was set free.

In his alleged confession to the police, Nnaji said Jek masterminded the kidnapping .

“Jek brought the information that there was a woman that has money but she was very selfish and that he will want us to assist him kidnap her and collect money from her. One of us, Patrick, a private driver, provided his master’s car with which we trailed the victim to her street at Amuwo Odofin Estate, Mile 2 Lagos and kidnapped her.

We blindfolded her and took her to an uncompleted building at Mowe area of Ogun state and kept her and contacted her family to pay the sum of N5 million as ransom or else we will kill her.

The family paid N1.5m and not N5m as claimed by the victim and the police and we released her, but we did not allow the victim to suffer while in our custody as we fed her with rice and chicken throughout the four days she spent with us.

“My worry now is that I don’t know how the devil pushed me again two years after we committed the crime to threaten the victim again for more money before we were arrested.

God has blessed me as I am the director of music at the Christ Embassy Zone 1 Parish , Idimangoro, Lagos and also an actor who played a prominent role in a film titled Friday Night which gave me fame and fortune.

I promise to change if I am set free,” Nnaji said.

The suspects have however been charged before an Igbosere Magistrates’ court, Lagos on a four-count charge of felony to wit, armed robbery.

The offenses the police prosecutor, Supol Charles Odii said, are punishable under section 6 b, 1, 2(A) and b of the Robbery and Firearms Act and sections 269(1)(2)(3) and 270 of the criminal laws of Lagos state, 2011.

The plea of the accused persons was not taken and Magistrate E. N. Johnson ordered that the accused be remanded in prison custody pending DPP’s advice on the matter.

She adjourned the case till 13 January, 2015 for mention.

APC Donates N5 Million To Kano Bomb Blast Victims

The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Wednesday donated five million naira to victims of Friday’s bomb blast at the Kano Central Mosque.

The APC National Chairman, John Oyegun, announced the donation when he paid a condolence visit to Governor Rabi’u Kwankwaso at the Government House, Kano.

Oyegun said the party deemed it necessary to donate the token in order to support the victims of the most unfortunate incident.

“I want, to on behalf of the APC, to convey a truly heartfelt condolence and sympathy to the government and people of Kano State over the sad incident.

“We share your grief and the people of Kano over the sad and unfortunate event. We wish to make a token donation of five million naira in support of the victims of the blast,’’ he said.

He said that the recent incidents in Kano State and Damaturu clearly underscored the need for increased, concerted efforts to end the insurgent activities, to save the country from anarchy.

He, however, commended Kano State Government for the support and assistance it extended to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) from the North-East.

“Let me use this opportunity to commend you because we are not unaware of the support and assistance you are giving to IDPs from the North-East.’’

Responding, Kwankwaso, represented by his Deputy, Abdullahi Ganduje, thanked the APC leadership for its concern.

Kwankwaso assured that the state government would continue to work with various security agencies in order to ensure security of lives and property of the citizenry.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Oyegun was accompanied by other national officers of the party.
